What is my own responsibility on a trip?

It is your own responsibility to check that you have all required visas and travel permits as well as that your passport is valid for the required period by the countries you visit.
Many countries actually require that your passport is valid for 6 months after you leave the country. You will also have to ensure that you have required vaccinations and oblige to other standards set by official authorities. You should always check with the embassy of the countries you want to visit what the requirements are.
For instance it is required to have a Travel insurance to enter Cuba, and if you live on or have visited a farm recently there might be special issues you will have to consider when visiting some countries like Australia.

Then you should of course also be a 'responsible traveller' by being open-minded and represent you and your country well. And the old saying 'take only photos, leave only footprints' actually is actually still very valid!

Do I need to reconfirm my flight ticket?

NO - reconfirmation of flights is not necessary. In fact many airlines get kind of annoyed if you do.
But it is extremely necessary that you check your schedule on www.tripcase.com for schedule changes as airlines frequently do change departure and arrival times.
